Preamplifier and monoblocks S.A.Lab Samson MkII took great step from original Samson to phenomenal Hercules MkII. Amplifiers adopted exquisite Hercules’ musical signature, circuit and decorative virtues. These are the components with incredibly acute musical insight and refined audiophile sound.
Samson MkII circuit design is identical to that of Hercules MkII. Output stage is built on six beam-power tetrodes 6п36с (USSR, 1970s) in ultra linear mode (3 tube at push-pull shoulder). Previous Samson has four 6п36с. Output power is increased up to 200 W (4 Ohm) vs initial Samson’s 120 W. There are 12ay7 and 6v6 as driver (6п6) in power amplifier as well.
Due to strong S.A.Lab rules all tubes used are of highest quality, conditions and musicality. All are NOS and military grade.
Samson MkII has the same very complicated output transformer as Hercules MkII. Transformers’ topology and parameters are the same. The significant difference between the amplifiers is less power intensity of Samson MkII power supply.
Preamplifier of Samson MkII is similar in every aspect to Hercules MkII preamplifier. Mr. Syomin realized Samson’s preamp on 6п9 tube (USSR, 1970s). The tube is working on transformer.
Besides line inputs there is Phono MM input.
Like Hercules MkII the Samson MkII adoped such the exclusive materials as Carrara marble and American walnut.
Essentially Samson MkII is Hercules MkII younger brother. The amplifiers have identical circuit and visual design let alone they produce sheer musical expression.
